Precision Bridge can, on request, provide a trial instance of Precision Bridge, hosted on Microsoft Azure, for use by potential customers in evaluating Precision Bridge as a migration tool.
General Notes About the Trial Instance
- All instances are for the exclusive use of a single customer for the duration of the trial.
- All instances will come with the latest released version of Precision Bridge Installed
- All instances will be licenced for a 10-day evaluation. An evaluation licence prevents more than 50 records of any single table from being migrated per migration. Other than this all functionality will be available.
- The instance can be connected to, using Windows Remote Desktop. You will be provided with the URL of your instance and a username/password connection to log onto Windows.
- The instance will also include a Postgres database, to act as a target for evaluation of Precision Bridge Archiving/Replication functionality if needed.
- Any other cloud servers (such as Service Now, Salesforce, Jira, etc) that are required for evaluating a particular use case should be provided by the customer, and it is the end user's responsibility to open any ports/firewalls to allow the trial instance to connect to these servers.
- On completion of the trial, the instance and all data stored on it will be completely removed by Precision Bridge.
- It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that sensitive data is not stored on the trial instance during the trial. It is always advised to use test instances and test data for trial migrations and avoid connecting to production servers.
Trial Instance Invitation Email
The trial invitation email will contain the following information:
- The start/end dates of the trial period. The trial instance will be fully available during this time, the instance will be deleted after the trial has finished.
- The URL for your instance. This will be needed for the Remote Desktop connection.
- The username/password you should use when connecting via remote desktop initially. You are free to change this password if required for additional security.
- The password for the pbuser logging for Postgres DB. This will be needed to set up an archiving project trial.
Connecting to The Trial Instance (via RDP)
The end user will be provided with the credentials for a 'Standard User'. This will be the only user granted access to the machine, other than an administrator user whose credentials are held by Precision Bridge and will not be shared.
To connect, use Windows Remote Desktop as shown below:
- Open Windows Remote Desktop.
- Select show options
- Enter the host name and username provided by Precision Bridge in the Invitation email
- Click Connect

The Desktop for the trial instance should now be visible. Precision Bridge will already be installed and licenced. To start Precision Bridge, use the desktop shortcut.
Postgres Database
The trial instance comes with Postgres DB installed. The client tool used to view and edit data on this database is pgadmin. There is a link to this tool on the desktop.
The master password for pgadmin is postgres
A database pbarchive has already been created. It will have no tables or data initially. A user, pbuser has also been created. The password for this user will be given to you by Precision Bridge in the invitation email.
To use the postgres database as a target for archiving, set the target connection for your project as shown below:
