Reporting data can be accessed from PB Web through two methods:
- Configuring Precision Bridge to send reporting data directly to the web server.
- Configuring access to an external reporting database.
It is possible to use one or a combination of these options depending on your preferences.
Send Reporting Data directly to the Web Server
This is the recommended option as it bypasses the requirement to setup a separate reporting database.
To configure this, see the article Writing Migration Reports to Precision Bridge Web Reporting.
Configure Access to an External Reporting Database
An external reporting database can be useful if you are looking to perform a more detailed analysis of the reporting data, as this database can be queried directly. See this article on how to configure Precision Bridge to send reporting data to a database.
Please note PB Web can currently read from only the following database types:
- MySQL
- PostgresDB
- Microsoft SQL Server
- SAP Hana DB
PB Web needs to access your reporting database and so it is necessary to provide database credentials for a user with read permissions. From the organisation page, under 'Connections' click 'Add Connection'. This will take you to a form to select the DB type and enter the relevant details.
Test the connection works as expected and save the connection. Any reports in this database will now be shown in the web reporting data.
If you wish to exclude reports from this database but wish to keep the connection details saved, uncheck the 'enabled' checkbox.
