This release has an initial version number of 8.2.27.
If an existing version of Precision Bridge is installed, this version will be installed alongside it.
Users upgrading to 8.2 from versions earlier than 8.0 will need to request a new licence from Precision Bridge.
Listed below are the enhancements included in this release:
List of Enhancements
1. Support for additional attachment support Use Cases
Several other use cases have been added for attachment support including:
- All migrations targeting an Ivanti Server
- All migrations targeting a Remedy Server
- Attachment migration from RSA Archer to database
More information can be found in this article: Attachment Migration Support Matrix
2. Support for retrieval of Object Relationship information from an Ivanti Source
This enhancement allows the user to extract information about links between objects on an Ivanti Server with a view to replicating these links on the target system after the objects themselves have been migrated.
More information can be found in this article: Retrieving Object Relationship Information in Ivanti
3. Source Deletion support for Database to Database migration projects
It is now possible to configure a migration of data from one database to another, and delete the record from the source database following migration. This supports the Archiving use case.
Validation checks prior to deletion ensure that the records do actually exist on the target system before they are removed from the source.
More information on Source Deletions can be found here: Configuring Source Deletions
4. Improved support for migration of Manage Engine data into Jira Service Management
The extraction utility to extract Manage Engine data into csv files has been enhanced to support both Manage Engine on Premise or a cloud based instance. Extraction of worklogs has also been added.
These CSV files can then be used as the source in a Manage Engine to JSM migration, with a project template being provided for this purpose.
More information on the Manage Engine Extraction Utility can be found here:
Extracting data from ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus
5. Support for Token Authentication for attachments migrated using a URL in a csv file.
When migrating attachments into a target using a csv file that contains the URL's to download the attachments, Authentication using a bearer token is now supported as well as basic authentication.
More information on this can be found here: Defining Attachment Options
6. Support for Jira Confluence as a Source
Migration of Knowledge articles into ServiceNow is now fully supported with an assignment function to transform both the embedded image links and links to other articles so that they will point to the correct image/article in the migrated ServiceNow article. A template has been created to support this use case.
More information about the transform function can be found here: SNOW_REPLACE_CONF_LINKS Function
7. Keep Alive process
Precision Bridge will now run a continual background process aimed at preventing the machine on which it is installed from going to sleep or terminating the session while unattended. This process moves the mouse a small amount every minute to mimic user input. This should prevent long executions from being terminated early due to user inactivity.
8. Function to extract values from a JSON string
This new assignment function will collect all the values for a given key in a Json string and concatenate them into a single string value, separating with a given separator. This can be used to extract text comments from a Salesforce comment, which is rich text formatted.
More information about this function can be found here: EXTRACT_VALUES_FROM_JSON Function
9. Support for Salesforce Files as Attachments
More recent versions of Salesforce (and Remedyforce) support attaching documents as 'Files' to records. There is a many-many relationship between Files and their associated objects. Precision Bridge now supports both the older 'Attachments' and the newer 'Files' method of attaching a file to a record when migrating from Salesforce.
More information can be found here: Migrating Attachments from Salesforce or Remedyforce
10. Display of all Timestamps in Local Timezone
Following customer feedback, all timestamps in log and report files will be in the local timezone for the client machine and will include the timezone name. Similarly, when setting the schedule time for an execution, this will be in the local timezone (previously this was in the server timezone). Users upgrading from a previous version of Precision Bridge and using scheduling are advised to check that the schedule times are still correct for existing projects.
New or Updated Templates
The following additional templates were added in this release:
| ServiceNow->ServiceNow | GRC |
A set of 12 templates have been added to support migration of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) data. This includes migration of Authority Documents, Risk Framework, Policies, Issues, Control Objectives and Assessment Data. |
| Jira -> ServiceNow | Confluence Pages |
This template can be used to folders and pages together with related comments from a Confluence Space into a ServiceNow Knowledgebase. This includes support for content transformation of embedded image links and links to other pages. |
| CSV -> ServiceNow | ManageEngine Tickets |
This template uses, as a source, the csv files generated from a ManageEngine export using the ManageEngine Extract Utility. The ManageEngine ticket content is delivered into ServiceNow as Incident records with associated comments and attachments. |
| RemedyForce -> Ivanti |
Incidents Service Requests |
These templates migrate Incident and ServiceRequest data, including associated tasks, comments, worklogs and attachments. |
| ServiceNow -> Ivanti |
Incident |
This template migrates Incidents together with associated tasks, comments and attachments from ServiceNow into Ivanti. |
Notice of Support Termination
With the release of Precision Bridge 7.3, support was withdrawn for Precision Bridge 6.3 and below. Customers still using these versions are advised to upgrade to a later release.
Currently, supported versions of Precision Bridge are: 8.2, 8.1, 8.0, 7.4, 7.3, 7.2, 7.1 and 7.0.
Advice To Users Upgrading from Precision Bridge 7.0 or earlier
The Use Server ID's Key Mapping option was removed from Precision Bridge 7.1. If this Key mapping option has been used in a project built with Precision Bridge 7.0 (or earlier), the Key Mapping option will default to 'No Key Mappings' when opened in Precision Bridge 7.1 or later.
Note that none of the Precision Bridge Templates used this option in earlier or current versions of Precision Bridge. If you have projects that use this option, be sure to select an alternative key mapping option to use (such as by selecting Key Field Mappings) before executing the project with Precision Bridge 8.1. Failure to do this may result in duplicate records being created if the project is run a second time to update existing records.
Other than the above, projects built using Precision Bridge 7.0 and above will still work with Precision Bridge 8.1 with no changes required.
