This article provides a summary of the new features in Precision Bridge 5.0 release
1. Improved RSA Archer -> ServiceNow migrations
With earlier releases of Precision Bridge, for RSA Archer -> ServiceNow migrations you had to create a set of intermediate staging tables, effectively making the migration a 2-step process. With Precision Bridge 5.0 you can now create projects to migrate GRC data directly from RSA Archer to ServiceNow without the need for any intermediate tables.
This enhancement is further improved by the provision of new RSA Archer -> ServiceNow migration templates for Enterprise, Asset, Risk and Compliance, Security Incidents, Audit Management and Issues effectively streamlining and reducing the effort required to complete these type of migration projects. You can now quickly build projects to migrate data from ANY RSA Archer table to ANY ServiceNow table.
2. Performance Improvements
With the 5.0 release we have fine-tuned the processing and delivery of data migrations to ServiceNow target instances. This can generate performance improvements of up to 80% compared with previous releases.
3. New Source Lookup Queries
Source Lookup Queries have been extended to support lookups from RSA Archer tables. This effectively means that you can now pull data from any RSA Archer source table using a Lookup Query (with the exception of User and Group tables).
4. Application Migration
Precision Bridge 5.0 includes support for the migration of ServiceNow application objects from one application to another and between instances. In particular, it includes new migration templates to support the migration of tables, fields, table attributes, ACLs, forms, views, menus, modules, service portals, business rules, client scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, Data Policies and UI Scripts.
Usage of these new templates allows rapid migration of selected objects from one application to another without the need for re-coding or re-development of existing code.
5. Support for Project Variables in Field Mappings and Lookup Queries
Project variables can now be used in-directly in field mappings and lookup queries. To make use of a project variable first assign it to a temporary variable using a simple mapping, then use the temporary variable in your field assignment mapping or lookup query as before. This provides greater flexibility and control since project variables only need to be defined at execution time.
6. New Archive Timestamp for Archive projects
When archiving data to SQL Server from ServiceNow, the Generate Tables option now automatically creates an archive timestamp field on every new table. When the corresponding table mappings are created for the project the archive timestamp field is auto-mapped to the TIMESTAMP variable. This allows users to view and report on archived records based on their archive timestamp.
7. New Periodic Frequencies for Scheduled Migrations
New periodic migration frequencies are now available for 30 minute, 15 minute, 10 minute and 5 minute durations. These can be used to migrate small sets of data between platforms when they need to be kept in-sync on a regular basis.
8. New Assignment Function - REPLACE_MIDDLE
This assignment function is used to support application migrations where the middle part of long column names are automatically truncated by the ServiceNow API function used to create tables and fields. This function can be used to modify column name migration so that the column names match those that are truncated as part of the table migration.
Note if you are upgrading from Precision Bridge 4.x to 5.x you will require a new licence key. If you are an existing customer, use the customer support portal to request your new key by raising a support ticket.
