The Precision Bridge application requires approximately 200MB of disk space for the installation.
We recommend a minimum of 2GB storage (for project files, logs, reports etc). The actual amount of storage required will depend on how many records are migrated and the level of reporting required. For projects that will be migrating many millions of records with a large number of tables/attachments involved or where a high level of granularity is needed for reporting, you should consider increasing this minimum to avoid the need to perform regular housekeeping of log files/reports to free up storage.
Note that Precision Bridge does not store any data locally, so unless you are planning to setup a local database as a target for your migration runs, you just need enough space to store the project files themselves, reports and log files.
Project files (which will include cache of metadata for each connected server) are typically a few megabytes each, though possibly more if the project has many table mappings (>50) or is frequently run and involves a large number of records.
Reports can get large if reporting for all records migrated is required, or if your migration generates a large number of warnings and errors.
Logs can become quite large when migrating a high volume of records, especially if debug information or detailed reporting is enabled.
If storage is at a premium, you could consider:
- Employing a rolling log, with older logs being overwritten on a 7 day or 1 month rotation
- Writing the reports to a database or ServiceNow instance (if applicable).
