Before installing Precision Bridge, make sure that you have installed the correct version of Java from Oracle or OpenJDK. You should have version 17 or 21 which you can check by entering the command java -version from a windows terminal. See previous article on installing Java here
To install and launch Precision Bridge on a Windows 64 bit machine, unzip the PrecisionBridgeWin<version>.zip file, run the setup.exe, then open the application called PrecisionBridge from the Start->Programs menu, or click on the PrecisionBridge icon on the Desktop.
You may see the following error like this when launching Precision Bridge:
If you have already installed the correct version of Java then you will need to set the JAVA_HOME environment variable. To do this, select the option to edit System Environment Variables on your windows machine, create a variable called JAVA_HOME and set it to the root folder for your Java installation.
If you have installed the Microsoft OpenJDK then this will be C:/Program Files/Microsoft/Java, otherwise, it may be under C:\Program Files\Java as below:
After setting the JAVA_HOME environment variable, re-launch Precision Bridge.
