Precision Bridge Architecture

Architecture Overview

Precision Bridge is a client based application. It must be installed on a Windows machine (or virtual machine) that has network access to the servers it will be connecting with.

Servers and Server Types

The term Server is used as an abstract concept in Precision Bridge to define the 'endpoint' where data records are retrieved from and inserted into. A server may be a database, cloud based application instance or even a collection of csv files. This concept is sometimes used interchangeably with 'Instance' or 'Connection'. Each Server has a Type (sometimes called an Adaptor Type) which defines how Precision Bridge will interact with it. For example, ServiceNow, Oracle, CSV are all server types that Precision Bridge supports (along with many others).

Users must define a source server and target server for their migration. Optionally, a third server can also be defined to provide additional, read only, input into the process. This is termed an External Lookup Server. Often this may be simply a collection of CSV files that provide mapping information of different values.

Each Adaptor Type will have a different set of properties that must be defined to connect to a server of that type. More information can be found here.
