When installing Precision Bridge on some Windows machines, the licencing window sometimes picks up an incorrect Client Host ID. When attempting to licence Precision Bridge with this ID, you will see this message: "Host ID Check failed. The Licenced Host ID was not found on this machine".
Precision Bridge needs the Physical Address (Mac) of the machine where it is installed. This is normally displayed in the Client Host Id field in the licence window but sometimes it can pick-up a different address, especially on virtual machines. It is also possible that the Client Host Id field will remain blank due to security on the client preventing it from being obtained.
In order to identify the correct address, from your Windows machine, open Settings-> Network Status. There is a Link there to ‘View Hardware and Connection Properties’. Here you will see a list of all available Network Adaptors. Look for a physical adaptor that has a status of ‘operational’ usually named ‘Local Area Connection xx’, ‘Wireless xx’ or ‘WiFi’ or something similar. Anything with ‘Virtual’ or VMware’ in the name or description should not be used.
The Physical Address(MAC) address should be visible here (see below)
Note When manually entering the host ID in the Precision Bridge licence request, you should remove any colons and capitalise. For example, a mac address displayed as 00:51:8c:c3:e6:7e would be entered as 00518CC3E67E
